ECEX Helps Light Up Chelsea Pensioners’ Christmas

Bespoke fabrication providers ECEX have ensured the Chelsea Pensioners are lit up this Christmas, by carrying out the repair of supports for an iconic Sir Christopher Wren designed lantern; the centre piece of the Octagon at Royal Hospital Chelsea, where the Chelsea Pensioners perform their annual Christmas Carol service.

Employed by site FM provider Norland Managed Services, ECEX worked against the clock to put the lantern safely back in place in time for this years’ service on the 11th December, removing and replacing the condemned support beams. The job required particular sensitivity owing to the age of the lantern, which was erected as part of the original 17th century building.

“The ECEX team’s conduct was very professional, organised and calm while they brought all the necessary elements together, ensuring the project was completed safely and in a timely manner,” said Andy Barrow, Fabric Manager for Norland Managed Services.

ECEX provides a range of bespoke metalwork services, as well as building and installing the ladders and platforms required to carry out work of this nature safely.
