Water storage

Water storage within a building is of particular concern to the Facility Manager due to the legislative requirements and potential for micro biological contamination.

As a result of legislation, Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, and the HSE 'L8' ACOP there was a massive increase in demand for the replacement of water storage tanks.

Storing the correct amount of water for a buildings needs is paramount in maintaining water quality to the building, water within your storage tanks should be turned over in every 8 to 12 hour period. If the storage volumes are too high this money is wasted during every clean and chlorination cycle. It is literally flushed down the drain.

Whatever size or type of water storage tank you have ecex will be able to provide a detailed recommendation concerning its condition, suitability and a cost for its repair or replacement.

Typical examples of work undertaken by ecex include:

  • Downsizing tanks to reduce the amount of water stored.
  • Installation of delayed action float valves to reduce volumes in existing tanks.
  • Removal of storage where mains supply can match demand.
  • Full repair and refurbishment of all tank types.
  • Tank lining using hand laid GRP.
  • Tank lining using butyl rubber.
  • Alteration of distribution pipework to create a balanced cross flow.
  • Isolation of twin tank systems to reduce overall storage.
  • Decommissioning and removal of redundant tanks including all associated pipework etc.
