The British Safety Council has announced the date of its annual conference: ‘Health and Safety – What’s Next?’ is scheduled to take place in London on Wednesday 23rd September from 9am-4.45pm.

This year’s annual meet will tackle key issues from the health and safety landscape, giving the opportunity for businesses to gain insight into innovation and best practice in health and safety management.

Keynote speakers include Professor Stephen Bevan from the Work Foundation, who will address the necessity of health at work and potential policy outcomes for businesses, as well as a presentation on the priorities and challenges ahead in relation to working with businesses from Health and Safety executive director general, Kevin Myers.

British Safety Council acting chief executive, Neal Stone, explained: “Health as much as safety continues to demand the attention of business managers and decision-makers. Though the numbers of fatalities have dropped to lowest levels yet in Great Britain, the numbers we are seeing regarding the cost and impact of sickness absence are a cause for concern.

“Health and safety can be about managing risks, be they to individuals or operations, but we also see evidence of the tangible benefits and advantages that good health and safety management can bring to businesses.

“Join us and network with other professionals from a range of sectors and businesses alike, and gain useful insight and learning to some of the most pressing issues around business and people risk management.”
