ECEX New Premises Further Boosts Service To Customers
Thanks to a move to our new premises in Newbury, we have increased the flexibility of our manufacturing operation.
ECEX has bought a two-storey, 9,000 sq ft building comprising offices and a workshop. Here we’ll be able to manufacture on site and provide a more flexible turnaround for our customers.
John Grenville, managing director of ECEX, said: “We previously rented two premises separately – one for workshops and the other for offices – which were about eight miles apart. As a consequence, we spent a lot of time running between the buildings by car, which was not ideal.
“However, after an extensive search, because of a dearth of suitable properties in the area, we put a finance package together and now own a single building with almost double the space under one roof.”
The move has enabled ECEX to tighten up planning and organisation, and take on work on a larger scale. Grenville explained: “While still servicing our smaller clients, we are also starting to get construction-sized steelwork throughout the building, especially in the data centre sector. This is not necessarily steelwork for buildings, but also for plant support and plant decks.”
To support the move to a larger building, we’re investing in new equipment, including lifting gear and building a mezzanine floor to provide additional storage facilities for stock components. We’ve also recruited three new welder-fabricators and a sales person to help grow our manufacturing capability still further.
“We hold stock including steel and guardrail components so that we can fulfil orders for barriers, guardrailing systems, and so on quickly from stock. This has smoothed the production operation, boosted our versatility in terms of meeting customer deadline expectations and it also makes us far more agile.”
